Our services

Focused entirely
on your lungs.

Oceanside Pulmonary is a dedicated outpatient pulmonary practice, led by a physician board certified in pulmonary and critical care medicine.

Pulmonary Medicine

Breathing problems are rarely simple. A thorough pulmonary evaluation starts with listening - to your history, your symptoms, and how your breathing actually affects your day - before moving to testing and a plan you understand. This is the core of the practice, and where most of our patients are seen.

Commonly treated

  • Asthma
  • COPD and emphysema
  • Chronic cough
  • Shortness of breath
  • Obstructive sleep apnea
  • Pulmonary nodules
  • Interstitial lung disease
  • Bronchiectasis

Critical Care Medicine

When lung illness becomes critical, care should not start over from scratch. Dr. James is board certified in critical care medicine and holds hospital privileges, so the specialist who knows your history can stay involved through the most serious stretch of an illness - and pick your care back up in the office afterward.

Commonly treated

  • Respiratory failure
  • Severe pneumonia
  • Ventilator management
  • Acute COPD and asthma flares
  • Post-ICU recovery
  • Return to outpatient follow-up
How the practice works

An outpatient clinic first -
with the hospital covered.

Most of what we do happens in the office in Stuart. The critical care training is what makes that office care stronger, and what means you are not handed to a stranger if you are ever admitted.

In the office

Scheduled consultations, ongoing management of chronic lung disease, and follow-up on your terms. This is where the relationship lives.

In the hospital

Hospital privileges on the Treasure Coast mean serious respiratory illness is handled by a physician who already knows your case.

Between the two

No retelling your history to a new team. The plan that starts in clinic follows you in, and follows you home.

Looking for a primary care physician? Oceanside Pulmonary is a specialty lung practice and does not provide primary care. We work alongside your existing primary care physician, and are glad to accept a referral from them.
Telehealth

Some visits don’t require the drive.

Dr. James offers secure video appointments - the same physician and the same unhurried attention, from wherever you are. Call the office to find out whether a telehealth visit is right for your appointment.

Not sure if you need a pulmonologist?

Call and ask. We’ll point you the right way.

If you are unsure whether your symptoms need a lung specialist, our office can help you sort it out before you book - with or without a referral.
